Salomon Smith Barney Hosts Women's Symposium

New York - February 8, 2002- As part of its national Women's Initiative, Salomon Smith Barney (SSB), hosted a luncheon symposium yesterday at The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Arizona for more than 350 women who are influential in Phoenix-area businesses and communities. The luncheon was one of several in a series hosted by SSB that have sought to place a greater spotlight on the important issue of women's health and related health technology companies.

How the Program Works
The first and second days of the program are taught by the classroom teacher utilizing the formal curriculum and accompanying handout materials provided by SSB. On the third and final day of the program, an SSB Financial Consultant joins the class to help bring the financial markets to life for the students and introduce the National Stock Portfolio Contest. True to the program's name, parents are encouraged to participate on the final day to share the experience with their children, hopefully allowing for better dialogue between them on the financial concepts discussed.

Hosted by Salomon Smith Barney's Private Client Group Regional Director, Scott Boylan, the event highlighted the latest innovations in women's health technology, an assessment of the overall healthcare sector, an analysis of current economic issues and the implications for maintaining a healthy portfolio in this environment. Included in the panel of distinguished guest speakers were:
