Benefits of FX

  • Diversify. Diversification is an important portfolio management tool to help reduce the volatility of portfolio returns. Investments in foreign securities often require foreign currency transactions. FX products can be used by the client in diversification for their portfolio risk.
  • Import/Export. Importers and exporters of goods and services often have to transact foreign exchange to make payments in local currencies or convert revenues in foreign currencies to US dollars.
  • Trade Foreign Exchange. The currency markets can be extremely volatile, creating potential trading opportunities for clients. Also, clients trading exchange listed currency futures can use EFP (Exchange For Physical) markets to transact foreign exchange round the clock.
  • Hedge Foreign Currency Risks. Foreign currency transactions are often used by large corporations as a hedging strategy to provide protection against adverse movements in exchange rates that affect their revenues or holdings. In today's global economy, corporations also have significant transaction exposure from nondollar revenues or payments. We can work with the corporate clients on reviewing their FX exposure. Corporations are among the biggest users of foreign exchange products and services.

Over the counter ("OTC") options have particular characteristics that you should be familiar with before trading. In particular, OTC options are issued by your counterparty and may not be traded in a secondary market, and may not be standardized in their terms. You should thoroughly understand the counterparty and credit risk, liquidity, marketability, settlement styles and pricing of any OTC option before transacting.
