Global Investment Committee Monthly

GIC Monthly

November 2009 Meeting Summary

The Summary contains a roundup of the Global Investment Committee's (GIC) monthly meeting, in which the GIC members discuss developing economic and market conditions, review strategic and tactical outlooks and recommend model portfolio weightings.

  • “An Extended Liquidity Trade” The Fed says that its will keep policy rates “exceptionally low for an extended period.” Other central banks in the developed economies are also expected to keep a lid on rates. That's good news because all that liquidity from the monetary stimulus has already had salutary effects on the economy and the markets.
  • “The Pause That Refreshes the Bull Market” The global equity market recently experienced its third pullback since the advance began in March. These short and shallow sell-offs are typical of cyclical bull markets, and others are to be expected in the months ahead.
  • Plus look for more on the economy, fixed income markets, commodities and hedge funds.
